The Spa Week concept was the brainchild of Cheryl Reid of Spa Week Media Group, LTD. In 2004, Reid was contemplating the sometimes less-than-glamorous New York City lifestyle, and how spa and wellness treatments could be beneficial to the overworked people she often encountered – many of whom may not be able to afford pricey spa treatments.
The idea for Spa Week was simple: To make a spa visit part of a healthy lifestyle (and make it affordable for more people), offer full-service spa treatments – normally costing hundreds of dollars – for $50 each during the Spa Week event. This concept allows those who won’t normally seek out these wellness treatments to experience the healthy benefits these treatments can provide.
Spa Week has become a national brand
Since its initial launch in 2004 with only 25 spas in the New York area participating, Spa Week has grown tremendously. Spa Week now has thousands of spas participating each year – giving more people affordable access to spa and wellness treatments. This concept has taught people the value of spa and wellness treatments as part of a healthy lifestyle, as well as opening the door to new clientele for the participating spas.
