We’ve all been there. We’ve been so busy that we’ve barely had time to remove our makeup at the end of the day before going to sleep. But now we have an event to go to, and we want our skin to look its best – and quickly. Obviously, the best thing to do is to take care of our skin on a daily basis, but sometimes skin care falls down the list of priorities. This doesn’t mean you have to be stuck with dull skin.
Tips for better skin – fast
One of the quickest and most effective “pick-me-ups” for your skin is exfoliation. Dead skin cells can accumulate, which not only leaves your skin looking dull and unhealthy, but also prevents other treatments from reaching their full potential. And don’t think that a harsh “scrub” is your only option: there are many products formulated to remove dead skin cell buildup without the little “beads” that we so often associate with exfoliation. Choose a product that’s gentle and suits your skin type. Alpha Hydroxy Acid and Beta Hydroxy Acid are two very popular exfoliation ingredients, but some with more sensitive skin prefer a light glycolic acid product. Do a little research and you’ll find an exfoliant that will make your skin glow, and won’t leave it looking red and irritated.
Plump it Up
One of the biggest problems with neglected skin is that it looks flat and dehydrated – which ages skin. There are many products on the market now that can make your skin look smoother, making fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable. Many of these products are a “quick fix,” meaning the results aren’t permanent – but some offer cumulative benefits over time.
Less is more
Bad skin days are NOT the time for heavy makeup. While it may be tempting to layer on the foundation to cover up your skin care sins, you’re doing yourself more harm than good. First of all, harsh, heavy makeup is like a neon sign pointing to your skin (and any flaws you might have). Second, slathering on the makeup is only going to compound your skin issues, possibly leading to clogged pores, breakouts, etc.
Instead, opt for simple makeup and, if possible, use products that contain light particles to reflect and help conceal.
Mask your troubles
A high-quality facial mask – like Bel Mondo’s bio cellulose facial sheet mask – can do wonders for your skin. Sheet masks in particular can impart moisture and beneficial ingredients that can help soften fine lines, and soothe and calm the skin. There is a mask for just about every skin care issue; so whether you’re oily, irritated, dry, or acne-prone, look for a mask that focuses on your skin care needs.
